Tri-North Middle School

Location:

BRCJ worked with the Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) and CSO Architects on Bloomington’s new Tri-North Middle School.   Responsible for the complete site design, site utilities, and landscape architecture, BRCJ’s surveyors and engineers developed creative solutions to manage numerous challenges at the Tri-North site:

  • Completed topographic and boundary surveys of the 24 acre site.
  • Maintained complete functionality of the pre-existing school building during construction of the immediately adjacent new facility
  • Developed grading and drainage plans to manage over 100-feet of grade change over the length of the site, in close proximity to public streets and residential neighborhoods
  • Designed underground storm detention and treatment system to control stormwater quality and quantity leaving the site
  • Prepared site layout to provide safe, secure, and functional traffic circulation pattern for buses, cars, students, parents, and staff that minimizes traffic congestion on adjacent city streets.
  • Coordinated with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing consultants to develop complete utility infrastructure to support the new school, including domestic water service, fire protection, sanitary sewer, geothermal, natural gas, electrical, and irrigation.
  • Upon completion of the new Tri-North facility, BRCJ oversaw demolition of the old school building, and construction of a new athletic facility in its place – including a football field and track.
